Tentar of Thunderspire

Terron Illustration

Medium: Pencil

Tentar is a dwarven warrior from an old campaign in my homebrew world of Terron. He was gruff, negative and complained a lot, but everyone in the group loved him for his rather physical wit. His shining moment was confronting a Troglodyte priest who held out his hand expectantly and demanded that Tentar, "hand over his weapon." Without a pause, Tentar hefted his axe and put it in the priest's hand...blade first.

"The practice of wearing horned helmets goes back to the earliest days in dwarven history. Before they mastered the tools necessary for undergound building, dwarves lived in much smaller, natural caverns. The wearing of horns or other projections on one's helmet became a way for powerful dwarves to show others that they owned enough space to accomodate them, since they would be awkward in cramped environments. Decorated helmets became an important status symbol, especially for young male dwarves. During the reign of King Doldoin III, this practice reached ridiculous proportions, with wealthy dwarves wearing antlers of such weight that they could barely turn their head...."
